Getting Ready

We got married at Sunny Point Farm on Wadmalaw Island, in the same field where Matthew’s parents and grandparents celebrated their weddings.
We both grew up in Charleston and went to the same high school, a few years apart. I didn’t properly meet him until I photographed his sister’s wedding.
Two years later, on the pink sand of Harbour Island, right after I finished shooting a wedding, he proposed.

Belgian lace, handed down through the family.
Just my mother and me, walking in together.
Six o’clock, under the oaks, high tide in the river behind us.
Cocktail hour on Bohicket Creek was a dream.
Made by our favorite bakeshop in Charleston, Weltons.
Lots of shoeless dancing with my best friends and family.
Sparklers, petals, and a flat sprint to the car.
